BCC Discovery

Power Feature - PostMaster Enterprise

The BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) feature of email is very vulnerable to misuse and abuse, which could result in security risks and confidentiality problems.

Did you know that an organization could stop information leaks caused by the misuse/abuse of the Bcc option in corporate email?
How? With the BCC Discovery feature of PostMaster Enterprise!

Are you the Administrator? If yes, you can:
Monitor usage – just log it!
Monitor the use of this option - create logs that record the details of all Bcc messages, including the addresses to which the message was marked and the email content.
Restrict access – completely!
Set restrictions for such messages.
– For instance, block the transfer of Bcc messages by enabling the Reject Bcc Mail For All option. This ensures that emails with a Bcc marked to any address will not be transferred further - you can avoid the trouble of checking logs later in order to identify such email.
Allow selected access – the exception to the rule!
Do you want to allow selected users to be able to use the Bcc option? No problems, simply add them to the Exception List, and they will be able to send Bcc messages, as before – of course, logs will be created. You can easily add or delete names of users from the Exception List, as and when required.
So see to it that confidential information stays that way - allow only your top brass to send emails with a BCC address!

•    To configure Bcc Discovery:
  1. Log in to PostMaster Enterprise as the Administrator.
  2. On the top-right corner of the Home Page, click the WebAdmin button.
  3. From the left pane, select Local>>Mail.
  4. Select the Advanced Settings tab. The following screen is displayed.
  5. In the Bcc Discovery section, select the Enable check box to activate logging of Bcc emails.
  6. Select the Reject Bcc Mail For All check box to block all from sending Bcc emails.
  7. Select the appropriate user from the Current User List drop-down list.
  8. Click the Add button to add the user to the User List in the Exception List. This user will now be able to send Bcc emails even if it is blocked for all.
  9. Select a user from the User List.
  10. Click the Delete button to remove this user from the Exception List. The selected user will no longer be able to send Bcc emails.
  11. Click the Submit button to save the changes.
