Power Feature - PostMaster Express
As the administrator, do you:
- Have to run regular diagnostic checks on the system and servers?
- Have to deal with a system that often hangs?
- Find that such disruption affects the pace of work?
- Find that manually diagnosing the cause of such events each time is very tedious and time consuming - especially if you can do it only from your workstation?
Email is critical – so it is very important to ensure that your mail server is always up and running. Did you know you could make this task less stressful – just use the Self Diagnostic Tool of PostMaster Express to ensure that the system functions smoothly at all times. You can use the self-diagnostics component of PostMaster Express to:
- Check server status: Perform periodic status checks of all the system servers
- Set schedule: Schedule status checks according to how critical it is to monitor that specific service. All you have to do is -
- Set the time interval for performing the checks
- Select the services that you want to check
- Be alerted: Receive both visual as well as email based alerts if any service is not functioning as expected – you can choose the alert types
- Work from any workstation: Manage these tasks from any other workstation - you need not always be your workstation
Isn’t this just what you needed to make life easier!
To configure Self Diagnostic:
- Log in to PostMaster Express as the Administrator.
- From the left pane, select Scheduler>>Self Diagnostic. The following screen is displayed.
 - In the Settings section, select the Enable Diagnostic check box to activate self-diagnostic checks.
- Enter the time in minutes in the Schedule Every text box to schedule checks at specified intervals.
- In the Services section, against each service, select the Check check box to perform self-diagnostic checks for that service.
- In the Alert section, select the Alert Display UI check box to display diagnostic alerts on the user interface.
- Select the Alert Display Web check box to display diagnostic alerts on the web console.
- Select the Alert Send Email check box to send diagnostic alerts via email.
- Enter the email ID to which alerts are to be sent in the Alert Email To text box.
- Click the Check Now button to perform diagnostic checks.
- Click the Submit button to save the change.
